Mindtrip, an AI travel agent startup, has unveiled a new feature that allows users to save places or create itineraries from various sources on the web.
With Mindtrip, users can simply input a link from platforms like Reddit or a blog and instruct the AI assistant to curate an itinerary based on the mentioned locations. The tool also enables users to view these places on a map, save them to favorites, or compile them into a trip list. Additionally, users can utilize links from YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram to automatically populate the list of locations discussed in the videos. Presently, the tool is compatible with TikTok videos containing text overlays, while for YouTube videos, transcripts are used to suggest places of interest.
Mindtrip even allows users to upload a screenshot of a ticket or a list of cities they plan to visit, prompting the AI assistant to recommend attractions, bars, and restaurants.
CEO of Mindtrip, Andy Moss, emphasized that the traditional linear approach to travel planning no longer aligns with how people actually plan their trips. The company’s latest feature, Start Anywhere, aims to leverage the vast travel content available online into actionable plans. Given that a vast majority of travelers seek inspiration from social media and online sources, Mindtrip is excited to witness how this innovative technology reshapes travel planning.
Additionally, with the launch of this feature, Mindtrip has introduced a creator program that allows content creators to generate personalized links for their audience. By clicking on these links, users can access itineraries based on the creator’s content. Creators can also integrate their photos, videos, and recommendations directly into Mindtrip to enhance AI-generated itineraries. The company compensates creators for each registered user, offering potential earnings of up to $10,000 per month through this program.
In the near future, Mindtrip plans to implement a revenue-sharing program where creators receive a percentage of bookings generated through travel plans based on their content.
Mindtrip, backed by $7 million in funding from Costanoa Ventures and boasting a team of 12 seasoned founders, leverages proprietary knowledge of over 6.5 million places in tandem with OpenAI’s technology for itinerary creation. The platform utilizes map, link, and image overlays to provide users with comprehensive context for their results.
Upcoming developments for Mindtrip this year include a group chat feature for collaborative trip planning with friends and family, as well as the launch of an iOS app.
Mindtrip is not the only player in the AI-driven travel planning space. Startups like Layla (acquirer of itinerary bot Roam Around), Pilot, Byway, and Sēkr all harness AI technology to assist travelers in planning trips based on various parameters. Even tech giant Google is exploring an AI-powered travel planning tool.
