The Behemoth, known for indie hits like Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers, is committing to updating all its games for the long term, a rare move in the gaming industry. In a recent 40-minute presentation, the studio shared exciting news about its original titles.
One of the major updates announced is the development of a new game currently in the prototyping phase. While details are scarce, fans can anticipate The Behemoth’s distinct art style and quirky humor in this upcoming title.
BattleBlock Theater from 2013 is receiving quality-of-life updates on Steam, including improved frame rates, audio enhancements, and better rendering performance. Additionally, the game will be available on new platforms in the future, although specifics have not been disclosed yet.
Castle Crashers from 2008, the studio’s most iconic title, is introducing new paid DLC titled “Painter Boss Paradise,” allowing players to create and share custom characters via the Steam Workshop.
The Behemoth’s roadmap extends to its original IP, with Alien Hominid expanding to more platforms. Both Alien Hominid Invasion and Alien Hominid HD will now be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, reaching a broader audience.
The original Alien Hominid game launched on Newgrounds in 2002 and has seen remasters and ports over the years. The upcoming PlayStation release features the HD remaster and its sequel, Invasion, which incorporates roguelike elements.
Even the studio’s recent game, Pit People, is getting a quality-of-life update, although further details are yet to be revealed.
