Nintendo rarely makes major mistakes, but the Wii U was a challenging period for the company. Coming off the success of the best Wii games, the Wii U attempted to capitalize on that momentum by expanding its brand. However, this strategy ultimately failed in terms of sales, despite having a strong lineup of games.
Although it couldn’t match the power of the top PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games of its time, the Wii U featured exceptional entries in its major franchises, along with some new IPs that are considered among the best games ever made. While many of these games have been ported to the Switch and become some of the best games on that platform, it’s worth revisiting the original Wii U system to appreciate its greatness.
