Monster Hunter Now is set to launch its first collaboration with an external brand this weekend, incorporating a significant crossover with the renowned YouTube sensation, MrBeast.
Starting on July 27th, players will undertake a new quest line assisting MrBeast through a series of challenges, unlocking monster materials, a powerful new weapon, and an exclusive Hunter Medal along the way.
Additionally, in-game clothing inspired by authentic MrBeast merchandise, handpicked by the philanthropic content creator and adapted for the AR game by Niantic, will be available.
These exclusive rewards will remain accessible even after the event concludes on September 2nd, provided players have unlocked them by that date, ensuring that MrBeast branding will remain a permanent fixture within Monster Hunter Now.
The Power of Collaboration
While Monster Hunter Now previously collaborated with Monster Hunter Stories in June, the crossover with MrBeast marks the game’s first external brand partnership.
Through collaboration with MrBeast in the quest and reward development, Niantic aims to achieve a more significant integration within the game rather than a superficial collaboration.
One of the notable outcomes is the creation of one of Now’s most potent non-elemental weapons, a Sword & Shield designed in collaboration with MrBeast. This weapon boasts an exclusive skill named MrBeast Challenge! and unique animations in the colors synonymous with the YouTuber.
With over 305 million YouTube subscribers and more than three billion monthly views, MrBeast’s collaboration signifies a substantial growth opportunity for Monster Hunter Now, a factor the development team considered while crafting the new Sword & Shield.
Designed as an accessible yet powerful weapon with straightforward upgrades to Grade 6, the Sword & Shield will be reliably obtainable for players who engage with the MrBeast quests.
“Monster Hunter Now is incredibly enjoyable and encourages outdoor exploration and physical activity,” remarked Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast. “Collaborating with Niantic on my exclusive Monster Hunter Now quest line has been a fantastic experience. I appreciate their approach of partnering with content creators and entrusting them to engage their audience.”
Niantic’s senior director of product marketing, Archit Bhargava, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Jimmy and the MrBeast team, bringing a unique quest line and MrBeast content to Monster Hunter Now.
“We continuously strive to introduce exciting and innovative content to the game, and this collaboration caters to both seasoned players and newcomers,” added Bhargava.
This collaboration isn’t MrBeast’s first venture into mobile gaming; he also partnered with My Talking Tom 2 during the game’s 10th anniversary.
