Blue Rider Interactive has announced a release date for its new narrative thriller-adventure game, Apartment Story. The game is set to release on PC via Steam on September 26. Alongside the announcement, developers have also shared a trailer providing a glimpse into the unique blend of third-person gameplay and life simulation elements that Apartment Story offers.
Players assume the role of Arthur, a video game journalist whose apartment becomes the setting for a mysterious encounter with two other characters. As the story unfolds, a hidden gun within the apartment adds tension to the situation. In addition to navigating social interactions, players must attend to Arthur’s daily needs such as eating, shaving, sleeping, and maintaining the apartment’s cleanliness, all within a real-time day-night cycle. The game also offers the option to isolate Arthur from external influences, leading to a different gameplay experience.
Apartment Story, featuring a nostalgic PSX-style aesthetic, is one of Blue Rider’s inaugural titles. The developers claim that players can complete the game in a single real-world night. Game designer Sean Wenham describes the game as a reflection of contemporary life, exploring themes of financial struggle, home life, and the desire for engaging narratives amidst the monotony of existence.
