We are now entering day two of the Esports World Cup 2024 CS2 event, and the competition is really heating up. Day two will primarily focus on the Last Chance bracket, where teams will compete in a brutal best-of-one format that leaves no room for error, as one mistake could lead to elimination. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that it adds a lot of drama to the tournament.
If you missed the action from yesterday, be sure to check out our recap of day one of EWC 2024 CS2. Now, let’s take a look at what’s in store for today!
JiJieHao vs. Sashi
JiJieHao is set to face off against Sashi, and on paper, it seems like Sashi should have the upper hand. Sashi has a talented young squad that nearly defeated MOUZ in the previous series. In contrast, JiJieHao has Kjaerbye, who must be feeling fortunate to be competing at the Esports World Cup 2024. While the best-of-one format can lead to surprises, it would be surprising if JiJieHao manages to defeat Sashi in this match.
FlyQuest vs. FURIA
Despite being evenly matched on paper, we believe FlyQuest has the edge over FURIA in this matchup. FlyQuest challenged FaZe on day one and came close to winning a map. On the other hand, FURIA struggled against NAVI, with skullz failing to provide the necessary impact for the Brazilian team. In a best-of-one scenario, the outcome of this match could still be a toss-up.
The MongolZ vs. MIBR
Despite suffering a defeat against Spirit in their first match, MIBR shouldn’t be underestimated against The MongolZ. The latter has struggled since returning from the player break and faced difficulties against G2. Although The MongolZ are considered favorites, this match might turn out to be a closely contested battle.
M80 vs. Complexity
Despite facing challenges on his Tier 1 debut, M80 put up a strong fight against Vitality on day one. On the other hand, Complexity struggled against Virtus.pro. This NA clash between the two teams promises to be a tough battle, as M80 looks to establish themselves as a top team in North America, starting with a strong performance at EWC 2024.
G2 vs. Spirit
While most matches in day two are part of the Last Chance bracket, we also have a Playoff matchup between G2 and Spirit. Despite G2’s strong debut, Spirit’s consistent performance makes them a formidable opponent in any match. If Spirit continues their impressive form from day one, G2 could be in for a tough challenge and a potential early exit from the tournament in Riyadh.
