Google Gemini has become more intelligent with a recent discovery by 9to5Google. The AI assistant can now answer “general questions” even when your Android device is locked.
Previously, you had to unlock your phone to ask commands like “What’s the weather?” But now, Google allows you to “get answers from Gemini without unlocking your device.” This expands Gemini’s capabilities beyond controlling alarms, timers, and media while the phone is locked.
The support page outlines Gemini settings related to the lock screen and Google Assistant lock screen settings.
Google launched its language model, Gemini, in February and has been continuously enhancing it. The AI tool is now available on all Android devices. Features like “Ask Photos” and improved search capabilities showcase Gemini’s growth. Integration with Gmail, Docs, and other Workspace applications has also improved user productivity.
The “general questions” feature of Gemini is gradually rolling out to select Android users. It may not be available to everyone yet, but it is expected to reach all users soon.
