Microsoft recently announced the official launch of its AI-powered Designer app for iOS and Android. This app, similar to Canva, allows users to create images and designs using text prompts for stickers, greeting cards, invitations, collages, and more.
Designer is now available in over 80 languages on the web, as a free mobile app, and as a Windows app.
The app offers “prompt templates” to help kickstart the creative process, allowing users to experiment, customize, and share templates. Users can also create emojis, clip art, wallpapers, avatars, and more with text prompts.
Additionally, Designer allows users to edit and restyle images with AI, enabling transformations like changing styles and adding details to photos.
In the future, Designer will introduce a “replace background” feature using text prompts to transform images.
With the standalone Designer app launch, Microsoft announced integration with Word and PowerPoint via Copilot, allowing users with a Copilot Pro subscription to create designs within their workflow.
Microsoft also revealed deeper integration with Microsoft Photos on Windows 11, enabling users to edit photos using AI directly within the Photos app, including features like object removal, background removal, and auto-cropping.
