Apple introduced a new flashlight UI in the third developer beta of iOS 18. Now, with the iOS 18 public beta available, you can experience one of the most underrated additions to your iPhone.
The company had previously revamped the way to control True Tone Flashlights on iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro models. The new controls offer variable brightness and the ability to adjust the width of the beam. In the initial beta, the controls were represented by vertical and horizontal lines, which required users a moment to adapt to.
With the iOS 18 developer beta 3, Apple has refined the feature and design to be more user-friendly. The new design includes a curved line to indicate both the width of the beam and brightness levels. Additionally, a dotted curved line at the top denotes the peak intensity mark.
While not a drastic change, the updated design adds a fun twist and enhances the usefulness of the flashlight.
The third developer beta also includes a design change that automatically switches third-party app icons to a dark tint, a feature previously limited to Apple’s native apps.
Additionally, a new dynamic wallpaper has been added that changes colors based on the time of day.
