Redmagic has officially revealed the global variant of the Redmagic 9S Pro gaming smartphone, featuring a processor that may not be commonly recognized. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, albeit in an overclocked “Leading Version” configuration.
What sets the Redmagic 9S Pro apart is the overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, resembling the variant found in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and the new Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 folding phones. The CPU clock speed has been boosted from 3.3GHz to 3.4GHz, with the Adreno 750 GPU clock speed now at 1GHz.
The main distinction between the Redmagic 9S Pro and its predecessor, the Redmagic 9 Pro, lies in this uniquely named processor variant. Redmagic has previously applied similar enhancements with its previous models.
In addition to the processor upgrade, the Redmagic 9S Pro includes an enhanced cooling system to manage the higher performance, resulting in a 20% efficiency improvement. The design has been slightly refined, with new backlight and shoulder button lighting system.
Redmagic OS 9.5 offers changes over Android 14, introducing interactive wallpapers for gaming without unlocking the device and customization features for gamers. The phone’s specs remain similar to the Redmagic 9 Pro in terms of screen, battery, charging, weight, and dimensions.
The Redmagic 9S Pro is available globally in four colors. The Sleet and Frost models come with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at $649, while the Snowfall and Cyclone variants offer 16GB RAM and 512GB storage priced at $799.
