- UTM SE allows users to run classic software and old-school games on PC.
Apple has recently approved UTM SE, an emulator that enables users to run classic software and games on iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS. This decision comes after the app was initially rejected and barred from notarisation for third-party stores in the EU. UTM SE is now freely available for users to enjoy.
The developer of UTM SE announced the approval on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude to the AltStore team and Apple for reconsidering their policy.
Step into Nostalgia
UTM SE supports VGA graphics and terminal modes for text-only operating systems, allowing users to relive the experience of classic software and games on their PCs. The emulator can handle x86, PPC, and RISC-V architectures, offering users the flexibility to run pre-built machines or customize their configurations. Built on QEMU, a popular emulator, UTM SE does not come with pre-installed operating systems but links users to UTM’s site for guides on emulating Windows XP through Windows 11 and downloads for virtual Linux machines.
