Bose has delivered on its promise to update the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and Ultra Open Earbuds with Bluetooth Multipoint. As of July 10, a software update containing the Multipoint feature is being rolled out gradually via the Bose Music app for all owners of these two Bose wireless earbuds models. Additionally, the update includes improvements to voice pick-up, connectivity, and various bug fixes for the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds.
Bluetooth Multipoint technology allows wireless earbuds or headphones to connect to multiple devices simultaneously without interrupting the connection on the first device. This feature has become standard in many wireless earbuds, raising questions as to why Bose initially launched these flagship products without it.
To check for the software update for your Bose product, follow these steps:
- Open the Bose app
- Connect the Ultra Open Earbuds or QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds to the app
- Go to the settings gear > Product Update (For Ultra Open Earbuds it’s v. 4.0.22 and for QC Ultra Earbuds it’s v. 4.0.20)
- An update should appear there (it may have already started)
- Do not force close the app until after the update has finished downloading (it can be backgrounded, but should not be closed completely)
