Riot Games has recently revealed a new character for its upcoming League of Legends-themed fighting game 2XKO. The hero Braum will be joining the roster, armed with his iconic shield and accompanied by adorable poro companions to provide crucial support in this team-based fighter. Alongside previously announced characters like Darius, Ekko, Ahri, Yasuo, and Illaoi, Braum’s addition is just the beginning, with more champions yet to be unveiled before the game’s anticipated release in 2025.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, game director Shaun Rivera elaborates on Braum’s combat style, emphasizing his defensive capabilities with his shield to disrupt enemy attacks and safeguard his allies. Drawing inspiration from his abilities in League of Legends, Braum’s signature move Unbreakable has been reimagined to not only mitigate damage from projectiles but also enhance his offensive abilities when combined with specific moves. Additionally, his freeze mechanic grants him additional armor and the ability to immobilize foes.
The lovable poros native to Braum’s homeland of Freljord aren’t just for aesthetics. These fluffy creatures can soar through the battlefield or unite to form a massive ball, inflicting damage upon adversaries.

For eager players, early access to the upcoming at-home playtest known as Alpha Lab is available for registration, scheduled to take place from August 8 to 19 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Participants only require a Riot account, valid email address, and residency in select countries like the U.S., Canada, U.K., Brazil, France, Japan, or Mexico.
While 2XKO has been in development since at least 2019, it was officially unveiled earlier this year. Following Riot Games’ strategic shift towards prioritizing established games and live-service titles after the closure of Riot Forge and significant layoffs, 2XKO demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering engaging gaming experiences to its dedicated fan base.
