- Disney Pixel RPG is set to launch on September 9th
- Beloved Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Ariel, and Stitch will be featured as pixelated heroes in the game
Disney’s newest video game venture, Disney Pixel RPG, will introduce pixelated versions of iconic characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and more to Android and iOS devices later this year.
Scheduled for release on September 9th, pending any changes, this upcoming mobile game is a collaboration with Disney’s latest partner, GungHo Online Entertainment. It continues Disney’s trend of partnering with established game developers to bring its beloved characters to the gaming world.
A Journey into Pixelated Magic
Disney Pixel RPG will showcase a wide array of characters from the vast Disney universe, appealing to fans of all ages. Characters such as Stitch, Ariel, Winnie the Pooh, and Baymax will be rendered in a nostalgic pixelated art style reminiscent of classic RPGs.
Players will embark on an adventure through various worlds, striving to restore order and combat the disruptive programs threatening reality. The game promises fast-paced and strategic battles that don’t require extensive RPG knowledge.
For casual players, an auto-play feature is available, and an idle mode will provide rewards even when the player is away from the game.
Pre-registrations opened on July 8th, offering prizes like free gacha pulls and avatar customization to build excitement early on. GungHo aims to attract 200,000 pre-registrants with the allure of top rewards.
When compared to the success of games like Zenless Zone Zero, which surpassed 40 million pre-registrations, Disney’s modest target of 200,000 reflects their cautious approach to the gaming industry. Rather than developing their own games, Disney tends to license its IP to experienced developers, as seen in partnerships with Kabam, Square Enix, and Fortnite.
By joining forces with GungHo, Disney continues to demonstrate its savvy partner selection, aligning with a developer known for producing highly profitable mobile games…
