Chinese hardware company Linglong has unveiled an innovative new product – a powerful mini PC concealed within a foldable keyboard. Measuring just 15cm x 10cm and weighing 800 grams when closed, the device boasts an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor with up to 32GB RAM and 1TB of storage. It even features a mini touchpad, requiring only a display to complete the setup.
While a portable computer without a display may seem unconventional, it offers flexibility to connect to various external displays such as phones, tablets, TVs, monitors, and VR headsets. Connectivity options include a USB 3.0 port, a USB 4 Type-C port, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, and Bluetooth, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices. Additionally, the device is equipped with a fan to maintain optimal operating temperature.
Linglong asserts that the keyboard PC can support 10 hours of light office work, six hours of media playback, and approximately four hours of gaming. However, battery life may vary depending on the connected display’s power requirements, potentially reducing the stated durations.
Although mini PCs cater to a niche market, they present solutions to unique needs that traditional laptops may not address. The convenience of a pocket-sized PC appeals to users seeking portability without the bulk of a laptop, allowing them to connect to external peripherals wherever they go.
Despite its appeal, pricing may pose a barrier, with the 16GB/512GB version priced at $645 and the 32GB/1TB version at $780. Distribution plans are limited to 200 units for beta testing in China, with no confirmation of international availability.
