Recently, it seemed like Epic’s App Store for iOS was finally making its way onto Apple’s platform after years of legal disputes. However, it turns out there are still hurdles to overcome as Apple has rejected Epic’s submission. It appears that Epic is not backing down easily.
According to a tweet from the official Epic Newsroom account on X (formerly Twitter):
Apple has rejected our Epic Games Store notarization submission twice, citing similarities between our “Install” button and their “Get” button, as well as the labeling of “In-app purchases”. We believe we are following standard industry conventions and regulatory practices.
Epic has voiced its concerns to the European Commission, stating that Apple’s rejection is arbitrary and obstructive. Despite this, they are still prepared to launch the Epic Games Store and Fortnite on iOS in the EU in the coming months.
It’s unclear how this situation will progress, but it’s unlikely that either party will back down easily. The ongoing dispute may continue to impact revenue and disappoint gamers worldwide.
As one Twitter user aptly put it:
I can’t wait for this shit to be over with.
