Like many others, I found myself immersed in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in early 2020. Playing it for work and with plenty of time on my hands, I spent hours on my Nintendo Switch building my virtual island. However, after a string of bad luck and slow updates, I grew frustrated and eventually stopped playing. Since then, I’ve struggled to return to my island.
Fortunately, there are now several games vying for the charming town-building, life simulation throne of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While some may prefer Hello Kitty: Island Adventure, I have recently become enamored with Go-Go Town.
Developed by Prideful Sloth and Cult Games, Go-Go Town entered Steam’s early access on June 18. This delightful game lets players take on the role of a mayor rebuilding a rundown city. While not groundbreaking, Go-Go Town’s inviting visuals, user-friendly gameplay, and engaging loops have rekindled my love for town-building games. With Prideful Sloth’s transparent communication about their early access plans, Go-Go Town appears to be shaping into something truly special.
