The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series is still several months away from launch, likely to occur in the early months of next year, possibly between January and February based on past releases. A recent exclusive report from Android Headlines hints at a potential shift in the line-up by excluding the Galaxy S25 Plus model, with only the regular S25 and S25 Ultra expected to be part of the new series.
The speculation is based on Android Headlines’ analysis of the IMEI database, where the Galaxy S25 is listed under model number SMS931B/DS and the S25 Ultra under models SM-S938B, SM-S938U, SM-S938N, and SM-S9380, denoting global, USA, and South Korea variants respectively.
While the absence of the S25 Plus in the database suggests a significant change in Samsung’s approach to the series, it should be noted that the Plus model has not always met sales expectations, as Android Headlines points out.
Samsung’s previous series in 2020 included four variants, which was streamlined to three models in 2021. The question of the S25 Plus model not being listed in the IMEI database does not necessarily indicate its exclusion from development, as reported by SamMobile. Multiple sources suggest that the Galaxy S25 Plus, along with the base and Ultra models, are still under development, identified by code names and model numbers.
Recent rumors also suggest potential changes in camera sensors and chipset suppliers for the S25, with conflicting reports on Qualcomm’s involvement. However, it is too early in the rumor cycle for concrete details, and more reliable information is expected to emerge in the coming months.
