According to a recent Statcounter report, Windows 11 is slowly gaining acceptance as users transition from Windows 10. The report indicates that Windows 11 now holds 29.7% of the market share, a small increase from the previous report in March which showed Windows 11 at 28.18% and Windows 10 at 67.23%.
Despite the progress, Windows 11 still has a way to go to match Windows 10’s popularity at 66.1%. With the looming end-of-life date set for October 14, 2025, the adoption of Windows 11 is inevitable. The recent surge in Windows 11 adoption can be attributed to Microsoft’s efforts to incentivize upgrades through various means, such as charging for security updates and full-page ads in Windows 10.
Furthermore, the introduction of Copilot+ PCs by Microsoft has generated positive reviews and is expected to drive a significant increase in PC sales throughout 2024. This push towards new hardware, coupled with the promise of AI features, is likely to attract more users to make the switch to Windows 11, despite initial reservations.
Although the transition to Windows 11 may be a slow and arduous process, it is inevitable given the end-of-life deadline. Microsoft’s strategic initiatives and product offerings are aimed at facilitating a smoother migration to the new operating system in the long run.
