The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are not yet released, but numerous leaks have provided insights into their design, features, and specifications. A recent Android Authority exclusive reveals that Google is set to introduce a new set of machine learning (ML) features on the Pixel 9 under the brand “Google AI.”
While some features like Circle to Search and Gemini are already present on Pixel devices, three new features are being introduced: Add Me, Studio, and Pixel Screenshots.
Add Me is a feature designed to ensure everyone is included in a group photo. Limited details are available on how it operates, but it is speculated to be an enhancement of the Best Take feature from the Pixel 8, allowing for editing of expressions and merging of different takes.
Studio seems to be an extension of the Creative Assistant app covered by Android Authority in the past, integrating with the Pixel screenshot editor for creating stickers and custom emojis.
Lastly, Pixel Screenshots, akin to Microsoft’s Recall feature but with added privacy measures, processes user-taken screenshots using local AI to enable search and questioning based on their content.
Google’s approach is more focused than Microsoft’s Recall, providing enhanced privacy safeguards. It remains to be seen if similar features will be extended to other data types beyond screenshots, as other companies like Motorola may also be working on similar functionalities.
