Concord has been announced as an action-packed hero shooter set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in August. With a strong lineup of characters called Freegunners, it aims to challenge popular titles like Overwatch 2 in traditional multiplayer modes. Unlike many free-to-play games, Concord will have a price tag of around $40, justified by the abundant content available at launch.
However, this initial cost is just the beginning of Concord’s monetization plan. Firewalk Studios plans to offer post-launch content such as cosmetics and other items for purchase, following the common model seen in many games today. As a live service game, players can expect regular updates and additional items to buy beyond the starting package.
Financial Details
At launch, Concord will introduce 16 characters with unique abilities, 12 maps, and six game modes. This substantial offering will be further expanded post-launch with free content updates each season, including new maps, weapons, characters, and modes. Customization options for character cosmetics will also be available for purchase seasonally.
During a recent interview, Firewalk Studios elaborated on their monitization approach:
‘There’s additional cosmetic-only customization options where you can further personalize your characters’ looks – this isn’t gameplay, this is only cosmetic – that you can purchase, and that will come out seasonally as well.’
Concord will support cross-platform play when it debuts in August, with a beta phase scheduled for July to give players a taste of the game’s features over two weekends. Players on all platforms will need a PSN account to access the game, which has stirred some discussion due to its relatively recent introduction.
