The Dota 2 Short Film Contest is back! This yearly event celebrates The International 2024 and gives talented Dota 2 fans the chance to showcase their storytelling skills through high-quality animations.
Participants in the Short Film Contest 2024 stand a chance to win $25,000 for the top spot, making the competition even more exciting.
How to Enter the Dota 2 Short Film Contest 2024?
This year, a new rule has been introduced to keep up with technology’s advancements. Participants are now prohibited from using artificial intelligence (AI) or automation tools for their submissions.
Exclusion of AI-Generated Content
Valve’s decision to ban AI-generated content reflects the rapid advancements in generative AI technology. With AI models like OpenAI’s Sora capable of creating high-quality videos from text prompts, the playing field needed to be leveled.
Other Important Rules for the Dota 2 Short Film Contest
In addition to the AI ban, participants must ensure their entries meet the following requirements:
- Entries must be under 90 seconds and at least 1080p in resolution.
- Content must be Dota 2-related, with animations or live-action allowed.
- Use of Valve’s Dota 2 hero models is permitted, but non-Valve IP requires proper copyright permissions to avoid disqualification.
- Entries must be newly created for the 2024 contest and submitted to the Steam Workshop under the designated tag.
