The latest update for the Google Chrome app on iOS and Android brings several new features to enhance the search experience. Some of these features are currently available with the latest Chrome app update, while others are set to launch on upcoming devices like the iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24 later this year.
One of the new additions is Chrome Actions for finding local places. Android users can already take advantage of shortcut buttons in search results for calling restaurants, getting directions, and reading reviews. iOS users will receive this feature in a fall update.
Google Chrome for Android and iOS will also offer personalized shortcut suggestions. For example, search results will prioritize websites that you frequently visit for specific interests, like ticket sales for concerts.
In addition, the latest update includes a redesigned address bar for Android tablets and iPads, following Google’s Material You design language. The new design optimizes larger displays and keeps the website visible below the address bar when navigating back.
Another feature introduced in the recent Chrome update is trending search suggestions in the address bar for iOS, a feature already available on Android. When accessing the address bar from the New Tab page, trending searches will appear below recent search history.
Furthermore, Chrome’s Discover Feed now features live sports cards for easier tracking of favorite teams, providing real-time updates on matches and events.
While these enhancements may seem incremental, they collectively aim to improve the browsing experience. With these updates, navigating the web should become more seamless and efficient.
