11 bit Studios has decided to postpone the release of Frostpunk 2 from July 25 to September 20.
The delay was prompted by feedback from the beta conducted earlier this year. While the feedback was positive with an average rating of 8 out of 10, 11 bit Studios aims to incorporate and improve certain features based on this feedback, requiring more time for development.
The game directors, Jakub Stokalski and Ćukasz Juszczyk, elaborated on the enhancements Frostpunk 2 will receive in a Steam blog post announcing the delay. These improvements include new game mechanics such as “direct-use abilities,” district reshaping, strategic resource management, and enhancements to heat, faction, workforce, and protest systems.
Additionally, the user interface and overall user experience of Frostpunk 2 will be enhanced. This will involve a clearer and more intuitive heads-up display, a dedicated construction menu, new city hubs, and improved readability of the Idea Tree. A new feature called “Zoom Stories” will also be introduced, allowing players to zoom into different parts of the city to observe its inhabitants.
The PC version of Frostpunk 2 is now set to be released on September 20. It will be available on PC Game Pass from launch, with console versions for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 also in development for a later release date.
