Google announced on Wednesday that it is introducing five new features to the Chrome browser on mobile devices to enhance the search experience. These features include new shortcuts for local search results, a refreshed address bar for easier navigation, trending search suggestions, live sports cards, and personalized search recommendations based on users’ browsing habits. The updates will be available soon for both Android and iOS devices.
One of the new features, Chrome Actions, has been expanded to local search results, allowing users to quickly access shortcut buttons like “Call,” “Directions,” and “Reviews” when searching for a local business. This feature is currently available on Android devices, with an upcoming iOS version expected later this fall.
Google has also improved the Chrome address bar for iPads and Android tablets, ensuring that users can open the address bar while still viewing the current webpage for a better browsing experience on larger screens.
Furthermore, Chrome on iOS and Android devices will now offer shortcut suggestions based on past searches. Websites that are frequently visited after specific searches will be prioritized in the suggestion list to enhance user experience.
In addition, trending search suggestions will now be available in the Chrome address bar for iOS users, providing insights into popular searches happening across Google Search.
Google has introduced live sports cards in Chrome’s mobile Discover Feed, allowing users to stay updated on their favorite sports teams’ games with automatic score and highlight updates. Users can customize this feature using the three-dot menu in the Chrome mobile app.
