Recent findings by dataminers in the code for Modern Warfare 3 suggest that a collaboration may be in the works and could be released in the coming weeks. While Call of Duty has a history of collaborations, this would mark the first appearance of the post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise in the series.
While Fallout has crossed over into other titles before, it has never made an appearance in Call of Duty. The two franchises typically cater to different demographics, but the recent success of the Fallout TV show has brought the series into the spotlight, attracting a large number of users.
Fallout in Call of Duty?
Along with crossover events for Gundam and The Crow, dataminers have discovered references to a potential Fallout collaboration in Call of Duty. While specific details are still unknown, it is speculated that the crossover could involve creating a new Operator based on Fallout characters or reskinning an existing Operator in the iconic ‘Vault Suit’.
Activision could draw inspiration from a variety of iconic Fallout weapons, such as laser and plasma guns, the 10mm pistol, combat rifle, and pipe weapons. Additionally, the crossover may feature Fallout-themed charms, stickers, cards, and emblems for players to collect.
As with any crossover event, the potential for Fallout-themed content in games like Fortnite is also highly anticipated. While the discovery of a single line of code hints at this collaboration, only time will reveal if it will come to fruition before the Black Ops 6 reveal in June.
