Strands is an exciting new daily puzzle from the renowned New York Times. It offers a challenging twist on the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye and clever thinking to solve.
Similar to popular puzzles like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can present a formidable challenge on some days. If you find yourself stuck and in need of assistance, you can reference the solved puzzle provided below.
How to play Strands
To tackle a Strands puzzle, begin by identifying the hidden “theme words” within the grid of letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words, and double-tap the final letter to confirm your selection. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
Even if you stumble upon non-theme words, they are still beneficial. For every three non-theme words of at least four letters in length, you’ll receive a hint – one of the theme words’ letters will be revealed for you to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid is crucial for spelling out the theme words, with no overlapping. Each letter is used precisely once and will not be duplicated.
Each puzzle features a “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that embody the puzzle’s theme and span two opposite sides of the board. When you locate the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The objective is to complete the puzzle swiftly while minimizing the use of hints.
