Many users have reported that their alarms are ringing silently on iPhones. Apple has acknowledged the issue and is currently working on a fix.
According to reports from Wall Street Journal reporter Joanna Stern and NBC correspondent Emilie Ikeda, Apple has confirmed the problem of some users’ alarms not producing sound. NBC’s Today Show even covered the issue in Apple’s clock app.
While Apple is actively working on a patch, the company has not yet provided a timeline for when the fix will be rolled out.
Some TikTok users have speculated that the “attention awareness” feature of iOS may be to blame for the issue, as it monitors the user’s attention to prevent the dimming of the screen or lowering the volume of alerts. Apple, however, has not confirmed if this feature is causing the problem.
We have reached out to Apple for further details and will update the story accordingly.
In the meantime, it is advisable to use an old analog alarm clock as a backup until the issue is resolved.
