BetBoom has already secured a top spot at the ESL One Birmingham Major, establishing themselves as one of the most consistently high-performing teams this year. We had the opportunity to speak with TorontoTokyo about his meta picks and his experience in the Major so far.
How are you enjoying Birmingham so far?
TorontoTokyo: To be honest, I haven’t had much time to explore. I arrived from the airport and went straight into playing Dota.
Sophie: How long have you been here?
TorontoTokyo: We’ve been here since the tournament started on the 22nd, so about a week or so.
Sophie: How do you find the British food?
TorontoTokyo: I haven’t really tried much, I stick to ordering Asian cuisine. I usually go for rice with chicken.
Sophie: Keeping it simple then. Let’s talk a bit about the tournament. Your team has been performing exceptionally well.
How was your preparation for this Major?
TorontoTokyo: Our preparation mainly involved training for the Elite League tournament. We did some scrims and played a lot of pubs to prepare for this Major.
Sophie: You recently had Miero join the team in January. How is he fitting in?
TorontoTokyo: It’s been easy integrating him into the team, everything is going smoothly.
Sophie: Do you engage in team bonding activities or bootcamps?
TorontoTokyo: Yes, we usually do bootcamps before tournaments and participate in team bonding activities. We also enjoy paintball and dining together as a team.
Sophie: You must be looking forward to your free time in Birmingham.
TorontoTokyo: We plan to go out today and explore the city.
Sophie: You have secured a top three spot at the Major. If you could choose a grand final opponent, who would it be and why?
TorontoTokyo: It would be exciting to play against Xtreme, mainly because I admire XinQ.
Sophie: Let’s talk about the meta for this tournament. How is the abundance of uncontested heroes impacting your drafting strategy?
TorontoTokyo: We have a clear strategy based on our comfort heroes, which we have practiced in scrims leading up to the tournament.
Sophie: Which hero is your go-to comfort pick?
TorontoTokyo: Chen is my favorite hero to play. I really enjoy playing him.
Sophie: Good to know. It seems like you have a strong understanding of your team’s strengths. Thank you for sharing your insights with us!
