Valve has been hard at work in the kitchen, preparing the new post-Major CS2 update. This update brings some significant changes, both positive and maybe a bit controversial. Let’s take a closer look at some of the key updates!
Dust 2 Replaces Overpass in Active Duty Map Pool
For the first time since November 2022, Dust 2 has returned to the Active Duty map pool, replacing Overpass. While it’s exciting to see Dust 2 back in action after its absence, the decision to remove Overpass has sparked some debate. Overpass was a popular map among players of all levels, and its recent revamp made it quite enjoyable. Perhaps another map like Mirage, which has been around for a long time, could have taken a break instead. Regardless, it’s refreshing to see some changes to the Active Duty map pool.
The Left-Hand Viewmodel Returns
Seven months after the game’s full launch, the new CS2 update has brought back the left-hand viewmodel. This change was eagerly awaited by many players and was one of the most requested features in CS2. However, there’s a twist with this update – switching hands now requires pulling out your weapon again, adding a strategic element to the process. The default key for this switch is “H” – give it a try!
Inferno Gets Adjustments
Since the Inferno revamp, the map has seen a decline in popularity within the CS2 community. Many players felt that the map was too cramped and contained obstacles that hindered smooth gameplay.
Valve has listened to feedback and introduced several changes to Inferno in the new CS2 update, particularly focusing on the overhead buildings in Mid and Banana. These adjustments have made the map feel more spacious and playable, with Banana being widened for better gameplay. While it’s uncertain if these changes will fully restore Inferno’s popularity, they are definitely a step in the right direction.
