Even though I frequently fly out of airports, last night marked my first stay at the TWA Hotel located in the maze-like corridors of JFK’s Terminal 5. It’s uncommon to stay in hotels near where you live. The place pays homage to a bygone era when people dressed up for flights and chefs sliced whole legs of ham.

A rented DeLorean with Rabbit branding greeted guests at the venue, symbolizing the event’s embrace of the past. Inside the hotel elevator, a Ritchie Valens song played alongside Motown hits as we descended three floors to the event space.
