Nvidia is acquiring Run:ai, a Tel Aviv-based company that simplifies management and optimization of AI hardware infrastructure for developers and operations teams, for an undisclosed amount.
Reports from Ctech this morning indicated that Nvidia was in advanced negotiations with Run:ai for a potential acquisition worth over $1 billion. The deal has now been finalized successfully.
Nvidia plans to retain Run:ai’s products and business model in the immediate future and will invest in their product roadmap as part of Nvidia’s DGX Cloud AI platform.
Omri Geller, CEO of Run:ai, expressed excitement about joining Nvidia and continuing the collaboration. He mentioned their shared commitment to helping customers make the most of their infrastructure.
Run:ai was founded by Omri Geller and Ronen Dar following their studies at Tel Aviv University under professor Meir Feder. The platform they created aims to optimize AI models by distributing them across hardware efficiently, whether on-premises, in the cloud, or at the edge.
Although Run:ai faces limited direct competition, there are other startups exploring dynamic hardware allocation for AI workloads. For example, Grid.ai offers software enabling data scientists to train AI models across various hardware components simultaneously.
Despite its relatively young age, Run:ai was able to attract a significant customer base of Fortune 500 companies, leading to substantial VC investments. Before the acquisition, Run:ai had secured $118 million in funding from investors like Insight Partners, Tiger Global, S Capital, and TLV Partners.
