One Redditor, who wasn’t aware of the Steam Deck, decided to build their own portable gaming device. The 3D-printed creation, known as the Ryzen Deck, was shared by Raven0606 on Reddit after a nine-month building process. The gallery of images showcases the various stages of prototyping that led to the final design, featuring an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G APU on a custom motherboard.
The Ryzen Deck closely resembles other handheld gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally from the front, but features unique rear elements such as large exhaust fans and an external battery connection. Despite weighing 3.44 pounds, it provides a unique gaming experience.
The project, involving over 1,200 hours of work, resulted in a fully functional gaming device that can handle games like The Witcher 3 at decent frame rates. Although battery life is limited, the Ryzen Deck offers a remarkable gaming experience.
Looking ahead, we can expect more innovative creations like the Ryzen Deck in the future, pushing the boundaries of handheld gaming technology.
