Strands is a challenging new daily puzzle from the renowned New York Times. A sophisticated twist on the traditional word search, solving this puzzle requires a sharp eye and keen observation skills.
Similar to popular puzzles like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be quite difficult on certain days. There’s no shame in seeking assistance when needed. If you’re stuck and require the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, you can find the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the hidden “theme words” within the grid of letters. Use your skills to manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the final letter to confirm your selection. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and no longer selectable.
Finding non-theme words also aids in solving the puzzle. For every three non-theme words of at least four letters each, you’ll receive a hint — revealing the letters of one of the theme words for unscrambling.
Every letter on the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Each letter is used once and only once.
Each puzzle features a “spangram,” a unique theme word (or words) describing the puzzle’s theme that connects two opposite sides of the board. Upon discovering the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal is to complete the puzzle swiftly with minimal hints.
