Andreessen Horowitz, a leading venture capital firm, has promoted Jennifer Li to general partner after her successful six-year tenure at the firm. She has been selected to contribute to the new $1.25 billion Infrastructure fund managed by veteran a16z general partner, Martin Casado.
The Infrastructure fund is part of the recently raised $7.2 billion by the Silicon Valley VC giant. Li has already been an investing partner on the Infrastructure team, actively participating in investments and board decisions. This promotion marks her as the 27th general partner at the firm, achieving this career milestone in her early 30s.
Despite the number of general partners at a16z, with over 500 employees, Li is one of only four GPs on the Infrastructure team. She joins Anjney Midha, who recently joined the firm, Zane Lackey, a member for two years, and Martin Casado.
Casado expressed his confidence in Li’s promotion, highlighting her increased autonomy in deal-making and influence on the team’s culture and investment strategy. He also credited her for co-building the infrastructure investing team with him, describing her as an integral part of the firm’s culture.
During her time at a16z, Li played a key role in identifying successful startups like data connectivity company Fivetran, valued at $5.6 billion, and data analytics developer tool dbt, with a $4.2 billion valuation. She also led investments in Mux, Motherduck, and Eleven Labs, all achieving significant valuations in the market.
Prior to her tenure at a16z, Li held leadership positions at AI startup Solvvy, AppDynamics, and was a Kleiner Perkins Product Fellow in 2016.
