Capcom has partnered with the GOG PC gaming storefront to bring back the original Resident Evil trilogy for modern platforms. Currently, you can play the first game for $10 on Windows 10 or 11 PC with some quality-of-life improvements. The game remains true to its original form with minor tweaks for better gameplay experience and controller support.
The GOG version of Resident Evil is uncut, maintaining the same level of blood, graphic violence, and gory scenes from the original PlayStation version. Additionally, it is DRM-free just like other GOG titles.
While release dates for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on GOG have not been announced, you can purchase the trilogy bundle for $25, which includes all three games once they are released. This marks the first official release of the original Resident Evil on PC since its debut in 1997.
If you are eagerly waiting for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, you can explore the recent remakes or opt for the GOG version to experience the classic gameplay from 1997.
