Sony has added a exciting new batch of games to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog in the middle of September. The latest selection of games was released on September 18, featuring a fantastic lineup of titles. Whether it’s games that debuted on the service on launch day or those receiving PS5 ports after being featured in the critically acclaimed Astro Bot, there are plenty of new and exciting games to try this weekend on PS Plus. If you need some guidance on which games to choose, here are three recommendations:
The Plucky Squire
The Plucky Squire is a brand new indie game from All Possible Futures, a studio led by former Pokémon artist James Turner. It pays homage to creatives, video games, and the art that inspires people. The game plays with different genres, transitioning from a top-down action game like The Legend of Zelda set in a storybook, to a 3D platformer in the real world. It’s a fast-paced 6-hour experience that celebrates creativity and references iconic games like The Legend of Zelda, Punch Out, and Rhythm Heaven. Available through PS Plus Extra on PS5, The Plucky Squire can also be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
Road 96
If you enjoy games that push the boundaries of storytelling in the gaming medium, Road 96 is a must-play. This first-person narrative adventure game puts you in control of teenagers attempting to escape the authoritarian nation of Petria. The narrative unfolds in a procedurally generated sequence, featuring choices that affect the story or lead to the demise of the characters. Your playthrough of Road 96 is unique and offers a moving narrative experience with bold storytelling choices. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Road 96 are now included in the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalog, as well as being available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
Mister Mosquito
Mister Mosquito made a cameo in Astro Bot this month and is the first of the VIP Bots to have its own game available on PS Plus following the release. This quirky title allows players to control a mosquito who disrupts a Japanese family while trying to feed without being detected. It’s a wonderfully odd game from Japanese developers that offers a unique gaming experience. Mister Mosquito can be enjoyed as part of PlayStation Plus Premium’s Classics Catalog or can be purchased separately on PS4 or PS5.
