It has been over a week since the Dota 2 Midas Bug started affecting the game, and surprisingly, Valve has not yet fixed the bug or disabled the item causing it.
We strongly advise against playing Dota 2 at this time (perhaps try getting a Deadlock code instead) due to the large number of players exploiting the Midas Bug. However, here are three heroes who can take advantage of the glitch to gain infinite gold:
Disclaimer: We do not support the use of the Dota 2 Midas Bug as Valve may penalize exploiters for hacking. You have been warned!
Top 3 Dota 2 Heroes for Exploiting the Midas Bug
Any hero can replicate the steps for the Dota 2 Midas Bug. To summarize, it involves buying Hand of Midas, putting it in the backpack, dropping it, and selling it in a specific order. Keep an eye on the Dota 2 Reddit forum for the latest methods to utilize the Midas Bug, as new approaches are constantly being discovered by players.
1. Lone Druid
The Midas Bug is particularly effective on Lone Druid because he can have up to 12 late-game item slots. With no limit to the gold glitch, having extra item slots makes him stronger than typical carry heroes.
In addition to the standard Lone Druid item builds for himself and his Summon Bear, purchasing consumable items like Aghanim’s Scepter and Moon Shards can make LD extremely powerful.
2. Wraith King
As more players exploit the Dota 2 Midas Bug, it becomes a battle of endurance for every hero with six slots. The last thing you want is to lose with a fully-equipped hero, making Wraith King’s durability and ability to reincarnate valuable in extended fights.
3. Techies
Similar to Lone Druid, Techies’ Facet Spoon’s Stash enables him to convert his backpack slots into inventory slots. With a 9-slotted Techies, exploiters of the Midas Bug can potentially scale better as all 9 inventory slots provide the items’ stats and abilities.
With Techies, players can equip multiple utility items like Gleipnir, Sheepstick, and other disabling items, along with a Dagon Level 5 when there are enough slots for it.
Heroes to Avoid for Exploiting the Midas Bug
Definitely steer clear of choosing Ogre Magi and Alchemist if you plan on exploiting the Midas Bug. Their interactions with the item make it a terrible idea:
Ogre Magi’s Multicast used to work well with Hand of Midas, but Valve disabled this synergy.
Similarly, Alchemist’s Greevil’s Greed ability does not activate with Hand of Midas, limiting his gold-generating potential despite his ability to quickly kill creeps with the item.
It’s surprising that Valve has not yet resolved the Midas Bug, especially with the International 2024 just a week away. It would be quite amusing if professional players have to compete with the bug still prevalent.
